The Dark World of the Televisions
Every television in Hometown goes dark at the same moment. Then, one by one, they switch back on, but what's playing isn't anything from any channel.
The Dark World born from the town's television sets is loud, overlit, and utterly relentless. It's a game show that never stops airing, hosted by a performer named Tenna, whose cheerful energy hides something much older and much less pleased with you.
The world is built on spectacle: neon scoreboards, studio audiences that may or may not actually be there, and challenges that reward aggression and punish hesitation. Everyone here is a competitor, whether they signed up to be or not.
Susie takes to it immediately. Ralsei is disturbed by the laugh tracks. Kris keeps hearing their name in the audience noise, said in a voice they don't recognize.
Undyne, who has apparently been investigating something in this area of town, arrives mid-chapter as an unexpected wildcard, friend or obstacle depending entirely on how you've played.
The Dark Fountain here is backstage, past the lights and the applause and the thing that calls itself a host. You'll know when you're close. The applause gets louder, and the doors stop opening in the right direction.
Chapter 3 in DRTD
Chapter 3 is the game's first true escalation. Enemy counts, health values, and movement speeds all jump sharply compared to Chapter 2. Units that carried earlier chapters will feel the pressure here.
Tenna's arena introduces broadcast modifiers: periodic global buffs and debuffs that apply to all enemies or units depending on the "segment" currently airing. Adaptability is rewarded over rigid builds.
ERAM appears as a recurring mini-boss across Chapter 3 maps, requiring burst damage to interrupt. Undyne makes two appearances as a neutral obstacle that must be circumvented rather than defeated, and engaging her directly triggers a damage penalty.
The secret boss of Chapter 3 is the Roaring Knight, encountered under specific conditions involving unit placement and mercy choices during the final waves. Among the hardest encounters in the game at launch.
